A Hockey Family

Hockey is in his blood.

I come from a HOCKEY FAMILY.
My Dad and Uncle played ice hockey since they were kids, probably on some frozen pond back in Philly, and they still play ice and roller hockey. They taught their boys to play, (coached every team!) and now they all play together. I grew up going to hockey games all my life, at least two a week. I learned to make up skits and dances in the "warm" room while the boys were practicing or warming up. When the game started my sister, mother and I would cheer them on as if it were a yelling match (all good proper words, of course). My sister and I even brought pompoms to show our spirit. Our wardrobe was half hockey titled and we knew what food and restaurants we could beg for at each rink location (the orange Julius was a favorite at the Norwalk rink!).

As time went on we were lucky enough to have the chance to play ourselves. I me "us" as the GIRLS. My sister played, I played two or three seasons, and I hear that my mother played one time back when she and my father were dating. When we were good we would get to go see the KINGS! The Ducks were not around then, and it was at the Forum. We loved it!

My father (Pop-pop) is very excited to give Noah his first skating lessons. We even have skates waiting in the garage to fit his tiny feet! In order to get him accustomed to the Hockey atmosphere Pop-pop and I took Noah to his first NHL game.

Keeping warm

keeping active between periods

We had to leave during the third period because Noah was DONE. I can't believe he made it that long though! (hopefully the people around us will not hate kids forever)

We might be a HOCKEY family again some day.

We Are Thankful!

We are thankful for our family. That includes the extended family, the silly Cousins, loving Grandparents, everyone! We like them for many reasons, one of which is that they are all great cooks and they like to eat just as much as we do!

Thanksgiving Feast

We are thankful to have each other. To have someone to love, enjoy life with, to share our faith with, and to challenge each other.

The love of my life!

Every good thing wrapped up in the cutest package ever...is our NOAH!

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving,

and

BRING ON CHRISTMAS!

My Friend Porter

I have many friends and Porter is one of my best!
He and I have some special things in common. Our moms our buddies, we are good sleepers, we share all our clothes, our daddy's are firemen, and September is our birth month, as well as both our moms'. Most importantly though, we share a special kind of JOY.

I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart

Where?
(not in the tunnels)

Down in my heart!

Where?
 (not just in my kisses)

Down in my heart!

I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart

Down in my heart to stay

I've got the love of Jesus in my heart.

Down in my heart to stay

...And if the Devil doesn't like it
He can sit on a tack!

Do you FLY?

Have I ever mentioned that I am a perfectionist?

A little type A

I can spend (and have) 6 hours cleaning and only clean the front room. How dare you think that is because I am slow and play around too much. That is anything but the truth. I spend the entire time scraping the base boards with my finger nails, getting out a razor to clean every inch of the windows, wiping down the walls, spot cleaning the carpet, vacuuming and re-vacuuming (even the entire couch). You get the point right?

So, I realized recently that thought I spend all day cleaning...I only have found more things to clean. I am NEVER done! I am never getting to the good stuff on the to do list, like going through the junk draw, cleaning out the closet, making a better filing system for a million different things and cleaning my sink (not just the dishes in it).

This used to be Noah and I at bath time.

Maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration. Some of it is true. I still bathe Noah in the kitchen sink because it is easy on my back and saves water. I am lying though. It isn't just that, I also feel like I am double tasking when I can clean my dinner dishes and Noah can play in the bath at the same time. He doesn't know or care, the dishes and Noah aren't sharing the same water!

I was kindly advised to look at this website:

I began to FLY two weeks ago, after watching this video:
(its a little cheesy and exagerated, but it hits home to moms all over)

Now my sink looks like this

Yea, I know it is old, I know it isn't anything to brag about...

...on the other hand, it is something to brag about. It looks like this every night, and every moring. It makes me smile because it is so shiny it really does glissen.

It has no dishes in it

It has no scum

It smells like lemon from the lemon oil I shined it with

I am less stressed

I FLY!

Do you FLY?

A First of Many

A Hair Cut

By: Brandi Grissom
Styles By Brandi

Is it obvious it's the FIRST hair cut?

Brandi, my loving, generous, amazing sister who is absolutely glowing during pregnancy is also
one of the very best Hair Stylists in Orange County! Seriously, I am not exaggerating. She received
the creative gene and not I.

Noah may not be the best client to use as an example of her talent...but it sure shows how happy a
client can be after receiving a new style.  It also doesn't hurt that he is her most adorable client, of course!

Noah's Quirks

Can you list some of the items stuffed in this toy?

I see: 3 balls, (two appropriate for the toy),socks, a magnet train, two blocks, and a drum stick used to shove all these items down. What you can't see...is the dog food that is under the drum stick. May I add, half chewed dog food. Yep. That's right. My son and my dog share their food.

I guess this means he is all done eating the cheese?

Noah LOVES cars! He also LOVES to say Wooooah!

Someone needs a haircut! Thank goodness he likes wearing hats.

If ever I can't find something...I look out the dogie door first.

Wooooooooah!

22 reasons I blog

There are too many reasons to blog. People ask me why I do it, some just laugh, while others can talk your ear off about their favorite bloggers for days. (kinda like scrapbooking...we have all been there. You know what I mean. You get sucked in! Then it either sticks, you get bored or you make something of it.)

Is it the experience? Is it self satisfying? Is it for your readers? is it work or is it play?

Everyone has a reason. Including me. I wish I could come up with a "good", "round" number...oh well, 22 is it!

22 Reasons I blog:
  1. It’s a chance to play and experiment
  2. It is my time life and my scrapbook
  3. It improves my writing
  4. It clears my head and (in a small way) relieves stress in my life
  5. It forces me to learn how use new social media tools
  6. I can work on my storytelling abilities
  7. It’s my personal megaphone
  8. It makes me a contributor to my community
  9. It’s a diary of where my thinking is – and over time a reflection of where I have been in life
  10. It’s Free - nothing is free!
  11. It’s become a habit that I would miss if gone
  12. It makes my family proud
  13. I love to have people email me interesting things and say, “You might want to blog this.”
  14. I feel like I have something to say
  15. I have no plan but GOD does!
  16. I may inspire people I’ll never have a chance to meet
  17. I think that everything is NOT relative (if it were, then you always have an excuse)
  18. Blogs aren’t boring
  19. Once I know I can blog, then I won't be so afraid of Twitter
  20. Who knows how long it takes to get Great (or just good) at something, I'll start logging those hours now
  21. The world needs more faith in God, maybe I can spread a little
  22. I’m sometimes type A (grin)
