1st Dentist Appointment

By looking at this photo you might think, wow, these boys did great at their first dentist appointment. They both seem happy, have stickers, have a bag with some new toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and a new toy car. Life is good.

It's GOOD because Noah is done crying and screaming.

Porter, on the other hand was a trooper. He did everything the hygienist and dentist asked. He didn't even flinch! Ha ha, Noah cried just watching Porter.

Watching the movie Cars, on the flat screen, attached to the ceiling, while at the Dentist

Dean Machine slept =)

Good friends and a beach BBQ

Last week we met our wonderful friends, The Fasullo Family at Doheny State Beach for an impromptu BBQ and some play time. We love our friends and we are blessed to both have sweet children who also love each other. God really knew we needed friends like them!

Getting right to the important issues... aren't Dean and Harper the two cutest babies ever? They give me butterflies with excitement to just hold and kiss them.
These babies are such an amazing blessing!

These two little babes are just three weeks apart. Both are EASY (now that they have taken to a schedule), both have heart melting SMILES, both have hypnotizing BABY BLUE EYES, and both give the most loving, warm CUDDLES!

Eric and Nick took turns handling the BBQ

We ate some hot dogs, chicken, carrots, chips...the randomness of our collection of food didn't seam to matter to a group of hungry families busy playing and chasing kids. Literally, chasing kids, with two year olds learning their boundaries at a large beach and park.

Aren't my boys adorable? Dean was tired, swaddled and ready for a nap, but we couldn't pass up this beautiful sunset photo opp!  Noah is in an anti-photo stage. If I say smile, he frowns.

See what I mean about Noah's anti-photo stage, it makes for some really great photos!

*Porter must be thinking, "you are weird"

cooooookieeees!

Mom In Cooking Mode

Cookies:
Gluten-free
Paleo
Yummmmy!

I kinda think these are a mix between a fruit/nut bar and a cookie. If you want bread-like or doughy cookies these aren't the recipe for you. On the other hand if you want healthy, satisfying and sweet, these are a treat you will become addicted too.

Ingredients:

1 cup almond flour (I often use 1/2 cup each almond flour and meal)
1/4 cup coconut flower
½ cup unsweetened coconut
½ cup steel cut oats
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder (optional, they can be done without)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp vanilla
¼ cup raw honey
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
¼ cup coconut oil
1 mashed very ripe banana
2 eggs, room temp
½ cup each cranberries and raisins
¼ cup chopped dates
½ cup chopped walnuts or almonds
1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional, I'm just a chocoholic!) - I bet unsweetened cocoa powder would be good too! Hmmm...ideas!

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven 325 degrees
  2. Mix flour, coconut, oats, baking soda, salt cinnamon.
  3. Heat coconut oil and add to dry ingredients, stir
  4. Mix eggs, honey, applesauce, mashed banana’s and vanilla, add to dry ingredients, Mix.
  5. Add all remaining ingredients.
  6. Roll into small balls, bake for 12-15 mins, until browned. They fall apart easily so if you make them small, they are easier to store and won't fall apart as easily.

Margarita Chicken

Mom In Cooking Mode

Margarita Crock-Pot Chicken

Ingredients: *you can half the recipe
--6-8 Organic Chicken Breasts (Mine were frozen)
--3-4 minced garlic cloves
--1/2 cup dijon mustard
--1/2 cup honey
--2 T soy sauce (check ingredients to ensure its healthy!)
--Juice from one lemon (or Lime)
--Zest from lemon or lime
*you will quickly learn, I ALWAYS add veggies. Even when it sounds weird or gross...my family eats veggies as often as I can get them too. SO, I added some onion, khale and one green bellpepper.
Throw it all in a crock-pot and let it cook for 7-8hrs on low. Serve over brown rice or Cauliflower Couscous if you dare! Also really yummy with a side of Broccoli which soaks up some of the delicious sauce.

New Year's Eve 2010

Another New Year's Eve PAJAMA Party at the Roger's house.

This year was full of adventures that included camping, river trips, Hawaii, Palm Desert, Big Bear, a leaking roof, many many Beach trips, surfing, stand up paddle trips, a handsome new bundle of joy DEAN, Noah turned 2, 5 Years in our house, 6 years of marriage, Eric turned 30, we said bye bye to our home office, welcoming a beautiful niece Hunter Rose, countless days (and nights) cooking yummy food, blogging, selling homes, loving JESUS, and enjoying our wonderful family.

Just about every night Eric tells me, "our life is crazy...and I LOVE it!"

I agree, it truly has only gotten better each year!

With that, I can't wait for 2011

All the kids.
Every year this couch get more and more full of adorable kiddos. If the Fasullos and Woodalls were able to make it we would have had to use both couches for the photo.
I love it. We make them too cute!

Kim and Jared (and baby Connor). Kim is so adorable, her skinny little legs barely balance her HUGE tummy. She honestly doesn't look pregnant from the back. Its so cute. LOVE her!

Dean was perfect, just hung out in the car seat while all the rowdy older children ran wild around him.

The three new additions from 2010.
